Are you passionate about books that make a genuine difference to people’s lives? Would you like to be part of the teams publishing Glennon Doyle, Brené Brown, Wim Hof, Deepak Chopra and bestselling titles such as The Choice and Surrounded by Idiots? Would you be excited to roll up your sleeves to help keep us super organised, and juggle multiple tasks and requests?
We are looking for an Editorial Assistant to join the Vermilion and Rider imprints of Ebury, the non-fiction specialists at Penguin Random House – and we’re hoping that person could be you. This is an entry-level position and no previous publishing experience is required.
We publish life-changing books for everyone across the spectrum, from personal development and psychology to philosophy, inspirational memoir, health, parenting and spirituality. Vermilion’s speciality is publishing highly-respected experts whose books inform, inspire and empower people to live their best life. Rider’s mission is to publish ‘books with soul’, life-affirming titles that offer readers hope, healing and a better understanding of their place in the world.
Supporting two Publishing Directors you will be the highly-valued linchpin that keeps our department running smoothly, whether you’re managing diaries, organising meetings, keeping procedures up to date, taking minutes or processing invoices. There is also an opportunity to develop your own editorial skills and help us with the day-to-day process of creating books, including proofreading covers, finalising manuscripts and drafting description copy. Proactive and with a keen eye for detail, you'll be a confident communicator working at the heart of our department and keeping not just yourself but others around you to deadline.
If this sounds like you and you genuinely love non-fiction, please apply with a covering letter and CV by 18th October. As part of your covering letter, please also tell us about a recently published non-fiction book that you have read and whether you would recommend it (no more than 300 words).
We are currently working remotely and all interviews will be conducted via video call; when we are able, this role will transition into our Vauxhall Bridge offices in London.
Salary: You‘ll start on £24,000. Expect a £1,000 increase on your first anniversary in this role and a further £1,000 on your second to reflect your growing contribution.
